Tour Overview

Push your boundaries and discover the untamed frontiers of Northeast India with our Adventure Arunachal Tour Package (08 Nights / 09 Days). Engineered by The Holiday Trips' certified mountain expedition experts, this itinerary is crafted for thrill-seekers who want to explore beyond the standard tourist trails of Arunachal Pradesh.

Your journey scales rapidly from the plains of Guwahati through the Himalayan foothills of Bhalukpong and Dirang. Brace yourself as we traverse the icy, treacherous, yet stunningly beautiful Sela Pass (13,700 ft) to enter the mystical valley of Tawang. Here, you will not only witness the grandeur of India's largest monastery but also embark on two extreme off-roading excursions.

The true adventure peaks with an authorized military-escorted drive to Bumla Pass at the Indo-China border (15,200 ft), and a drive through extremely rugged terrains to the remote, untouched Zemithang Valley—the last border village housing the colossal Gorsam Chorten. Safely navigating these extreme high-altitude border zones requires specialized local union drivers and strict military passes. We flawlessly handle all Inner Line Permits (ILP) and border approvals, guaranteeing an expedition that is wildly adventurous yet completely secure.

Military Permits & Extreme Terrain Expertise

Bumla Pass and Zemithang are highly sensitive, restricted border zones. Access is tightly controlled by the Indian Army. Our local team takes full responsibility for acquiring the necessary Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Army permits. We also pre-arrange robust local union vehicles equipped for off-roading to ensure your absolute safety in these extreme terrains.

Frequently Asked Questions

Zemithang is a remote, offbeat valley situated right at the border of Bhutan and Tibet. Unlike standard Tawang tours, this excursion takes you deep into untouched tribal lands, offering a raw adventure and a visit to the colossal 12th-century Gorsam Chorten. It is perfect for travelers seeking extreme off-the-beaten-path experiences.

Bumla Pass is a highly sensitive military area near the Indo-China border. Standard tourist vehicles from Assam/Guwahati are not permitted by the local taxi syndicate to travel on that rugged terrain. You must hire a specific local Tawang union taxi (usually a Sumo or Bolero) for this day trip. We will arrange the vehicle and military permits for you, but the taxi fare is usually paid directly.

Yes, an Inner Line Permit (ILP) is strictly mandatory for Indian citizens from other states to enter Arunachal Pradesh. You do not need to worry, as our team will process the ILP for you in advance. We will simply need your ID proofs and passport-size photographs.

Tawang is situated at 10,000 ft, which is usually fine for most travelers, especially since you will acclimatize in Dirang (4,900 ft) beforehand. However, the journey involves crossing Sela Pass (13,700 ft) and Bumla Pass (15,200 ft). It is advisable to stay hydrated, avoid heavy physical exertion at these passes, and consult a doctor if you have cardiac or respiratory issues.

The best time for this extreme adventure is during the pre-monsoon spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) for clear blue skies and relatively stable roads. Heavy monsoons (July-August) are highly prone to landslides, and peak winter (Jan-Feb) can lead to severe roadblocks at Sela Pass and Bumla Pass due to heavy snow.
