Day-wise Itinerary
Welcome to the gateway of Northeast India! Upon your arrival at Guwahati Airport (GAU) or Railway Station, our expedition guide will receive you. Begin your journey driving towards the Himalayan foothills of Arunachal Pradesh. The drive takes about 5 hours. At the border gate, we will smoothly complete your Inner Line Permit (ILP) verifications. Check into your hotel in Bhalukpong (or Nameri) alongside the Kameng River and rest up for the adventure ahead. Overnight stay in Bhalukpong.
After breakfast, we begin our ascent into the Himalayas, driving towards the beautiful valley of Dirang (Altitude 4,900 ft). We will stop at the Tippi Orchid Centre and the cascading Tippi Waterfall en route. Dirang is a beautiful valley known for its pleasant weather and apple orchards. Upon arrival, step out for a local sightseeing tour. We recommend a short walk down to the Sangti Valley or exploring the Dirang Dzong. Overnight stay in Dirang.

Today marks the start of high-altitude adventure. We depart for Tawang (Altitude 10,000 ft), navigating through the treacherous yet breathtaking Sela Pass (13,700 ft). The terrain is rugged, snow-bound most of the year, and offers awe-inspiring vistas of the Sela Lake (Paradise Lake). Descending from the pass, we will stop at Jaswant Garh to pay respects to the brave Indian soldier, Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat. Arrive in Tawang by evening. Overnight stay in Tawang.

Today brings the ultimate adrenaline rush. Switch to a specialized local 4x4 union vehicle to navigate the unpaved, extreme terrain up to Bumla Pass (15,200 ft), the heavily guarded Indo-China border. The stark, snow-bound landscape is mesmerizing. On the descent, we visit the surreal Sangestar Tso (Madhuri Lake) and the breathtaking Pankang Teng Tso (PT Tso) lake. Today, we venture deep into the uncharted territories of Arunachal Pradesh. We drive roughly 3 hours from Tawang to the remote Zemithang Valley, located at the borders of Bhutan and Tibet. This area is completely off the conventional tourist map. We will visit the colossal 12th-century Gorsam Chorten, one of the largest stupas in the Himalayas. Interact with the indigenous Monpa tribes and soak in the raw, untouched beauty of the Nyamjang Chu river valley. Return to Tawang by evening. Overnight stay in Tawang.

Continue the drive, crossing Sela Pass once again. Upon reaching Bomdila, check into your hotel. Overnight stay in Bomdila.

After breakfast, check out of your hotel in Bomdila. We will drive down the mountains, leaving the high altitudes of Arunachal Pradesh and re-entering the plains of Assam. The drive to Guwahati takes about 7 to 8 hours. Upon arrival in Guwahati, check into your hotel. You can spend the evening relaxing or take an optional sunset cruise on the mighty Brahmaputra River. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Your extreme 9-day Himalayan adventure concludes today. After breakfast, we will visit the highly revered Maa Kamakhya Temple, an ancient Shakti Peeth located on the Nilachal Hill.
