Carefully mapped out by The Holiday Trips' local offbeat travel experts, this journey takes you deep into regions where nature remains pristine and local culture is completely authentic.

Your adventure begins in Srinagar with a peaceful day excursion to the hidden meadows of Yusmarg. The real adventure kicks in as you cross the high-altitude Razdan Pass (3,300m) to enter the highly secluded and breathtaking Gurez Valley. Located near the Line of Control, you will spend two nights exploring Dawar, the turquoise Kishanganga River, and the picturesque Tulail Valley under the gaze of the majestic Habba Khatoon peak.

After a rejuvenating night in a traditional Srinagar houseboat, your journey concludes in the tranquil Aru Valley near Pahalgam. With expert drivers, pre-arranged border permits, and comfortable stays, your offbeat exploration is 100% safe and secure.

Day-wise Itinerary

Welcome to kashmir! Upon your arrival at Srinagar Airport, our representative will greet you. Instead of standard city sightseeing, we will drive directly towards Yusmarg (Meadow of Jesus), an offbeat gem located 50 km from Srinagar. Enjoy the vast, untouched pine forests and the beautiful Doodh Ganga river. By late afternoon, drive back to Srinagar and check into your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Srinagar.

After an early breakfast, we begin our thrilling drive towards the highly restricted and breathtaking Gurez Valley (approx. 5-6 hours). The journey takes you through Bandipora, ascending the winding roads of the Razdan Pass (3,300m), offering majestic views of the Himalayas. Descend into the valley alongside the turquoise Kishanganga River. Arrive in Dawar (the central township of Gurez) and check into your hotel/camp. Dinner and overnight stay in Dawar, Gurez.

Key Route Highlights:

  • Wular Lake Views
  • Razdan Pass Top
  • Kishanganga River

Today is dedicated to exploring the untouched corners of Gurez. After breakfast, we drive further into the valley towards Tulail. This region is dotted with traditional wooden log houses and offers a glimpse into the unique Shina culture. We will also visit the base of the iconic, pyramid-shaped Habba Khatoon Peak and the spring named after the famous kashmiri poetess. Spend the day soaking in the raw, peaceful nature. Dinner and overnight stay in Dawar, Gurez.

Bid farewell to the serene Gurez Valley. After an early breakfast, we will start our drive back to Srinagar via the Razdan Pass. Upon arriving in Srinagar in the afternoon, we will transition from rugged adventure to peaceful luxury. Check into a beautifully carved traditional Houseboat floating on Dal Lake or Nigeen Lake. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing Shikara ride. Dinner and overnight stay in the Houseboat.

After breakfast, check out from the houseboat and drive towards Pahalgam. Instead of staying in the crowded main town, we will drive 12 km further uphill to the pristine Aru Valley. Known for its scenic meadows, clear streams, and starting point of various treks (like Tarsar Marsar), Aru offers immense peace. Check into your hotel/homestay in Aru Valley. Spend the evening walking through the pine forests. Dinner and overnight stay in Aru Valley.

Today, we explore more hidden gems of South kashmir. After breakfast, we will take a day trip to Daksum and Kokernag. Daksum is a beautiful picnic spot surrounded by coniferous forests and the Bringi river, offering true isolation. Kokernag is famous for its sprawling botanical gardens and fresh water springs. (Alternatively, you can choose to visit the more popular Betaab Valley and Chandanwari). Return to Aru Valley by evening. Dinner and overnight stay in Aru Valley.

Wake up to a crisp morning in the valley. After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Aru Valley. We will embark on a scenic drive back to Srinagar. Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, because Gurez Valley is located very close to the Line of Control (LoC), you need to register and obtain permission at various army checkpoints. However, our team and drivers will assist you entirely with the paperwork, making the process smooth.

Because these are offbeat destinations, do not expect 5-star luxury. Accommodations in Gurez and Aru consist of very clean, comfortable, and cozy premium guesthouses, wooden log huts, and homestays that offer incredible hospitality and basic modern amenities.

The Razdan Pass leading to Gurez is only open for about 6 months a year due to heavy snowfall. The best time to visit this offbeat itinerary is from May to October.

Due to the tough and winding mountain terrain of Razdan Pass and rural roads, we strictly use high-ground-clearance SUVs such as Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo, or Scorpio, driven by expert mountain drivers.

Yes, absolutely. While it is an "offbeat" trip, Gurez and Aru are completely safe for tourists, including families with children. The presence of the Indian Army ensures a highly secure environment.
