6 Days Detailed Itinerary
Your Yatra begins early morning from Haridwar. After a quick briefing by our driver, we commence a long, scenic drive towards Guptkashi/Sitapur, which serve as the base camps for the Kedarnath Yatra. The drive goes alongside the beautiful Mandakini River.
Evening Highlights:
- Ardh Narishwar Temple (Guptkashi): If time permits, visit this ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in his half-man, half-woman form.
- Medical Checkup: Ensure you complete your mandatory medical fitness screening here if you plan to trek tomorrow.
Check into your hotel. It is crucial to have a light dinner and sleep early, as tomorrow involves a strenuous day. Overnight stay in Guptkashi/Sitapur.
Today is the most profound day of the Yatra. Drive to Sonprayag, then take the local shuttle to Gaurikund, the starting point of the Kedarnath trek. From Gaurikund, a steep 21 km trek begins towards the sacred Kedarnath Temple.
Pilgrimage Details:
- Trekking/Helicopter: You can choose to walk, hire a pony/palki, or take a pre-booked helicopter ride (from Phata/Sirsi).
- Kedarnath Darshan: Upon reaching the top (11,755 ft), witness the majestic Kedarnath Temple standing against the backdrop of the Kedarnath peak. Attend the soulful evening Aarti.
Check into a basic guesthouse/tent near the temple. The weather drops below freezing at night, so dress warmly. Overnight stay in Kedarnath.
Wake up before dawn to witness the morning Pooja and Abhishek at the Kedarnath Temple. The spiritual energy here is unparalleled.
After breakfast, begin your 21 km downward trek back to Gaurikund. From Gaurikund, take the local shuttle to Sonprayag where our driver will pick you up.
We then embark on a drive towards Pipalkoti or Joshimath (depending on the time you finish the trek). This positions us closer to Badrinath for the next day. Enjoy a hot shower and rest your tired muscles. Overnight stay in Pipalkoti/Joshimath.
Post breakfast, drive towards Badrinath. The route is incredibly scenic, passing through Joshimath and offering glimpses of massive Himalayan peaks.
